Shire Silver is a group of New Hampshire people who recognize that the use of silver as a currency is a very good thing.

We hope to be able to list all businesses in New Hampshire that accept silver as a form of payment. These businesses will be able to state the terms at which they do accept it.

Note that while some of the people involved with Shire Silver are also fans of the Liberty Dollar, this effort is in no way connected to it. In fact, we are competing with the Liberty Dollar, as well as the not-so-Federal non-Reserve.

Our first guest blog is a bit of a stream of conscience piece by our good friend Furb.

On the topic of the goverment of Zimbabwe considering the move to a gold standard: The market should decide what the standard is. Why does the govt of Zimbabwe need to be in the currency game at all? If the people want to use gold, let them. If they want to use bitcoins, let them. If they really feel the need to use monetary units issued by coercively funded governments the world over, let them.

The free Agora I/O unconference is wrapping up today, but the talks are now archived for viewing at your leisure. As well as my talk, which feedback indicates was well received, there were other talks that are definitely worth watching.

BTW, this talk was recorded in my kitchen, at the kitchen table where I produce the Shire Silver cards.
